A Portrait of Abraham Lincoln

Easter 2013

The Isaacson Easter party was beautiful this year when, being so early in the year, it could have easily been otherwise.

After the traditional feast of the hot dogs everyone busied themselves with cookie decorating and games,

filling the minutes until we arrived at the real reason for the party (at least in my kids eyes):

The Hunt.

Baby Animal Days 2013

The kids and I ventured down to baby animal days at the American West Heritage Center.  We timed it so the torrential rain stopped as we were getting there and started back up as we were leaving.  That meant we had sunshine and a lot of mud.  Good thing we're not too squeamish about getting dirty.

We watched a mountain man make his own bullets in a fire

And played with pioneer toys

And ate cotton candy and fresh mini doughnuts

And rode the train

No one ever sits with me in the regular part of the train.
It's too fun to pretend to be noisy convicts in the caboose.

And, y'know, held lots of baby animals.

The kids snuggled these bunnies so sweetly that they all fell asleep in their laps.

Ethan might be on his last year of pony rides seeing as they had to do some rearranging to put him on a sturdier mount.

Ginny wants to be a cowgirl when she grows up and is always saying she needs to go to baby animal days so she can get in some practice.

She takes it very seriously

There were no lines the whole day except for when we went in to see the baby bears and then we realized there had been no lines anywhere else because everyone was in line to see the baby bears.

Luckily there were boxes of more baby animals  to look at while shuffling along.

Including big turtles

and tiny turtles

Thankfully those were fun because the baby bears had used up all their cuteness running around earlier so by the time we got up to them they were all asleep in a cub pile.  Still pretty adorable though.

Just like my little cubs.
